Intriguing title huh? Not that any of you can give me advice on what I'm about to share, but you can at least have a good laugh. So we all know Dayton is potty trained now....well, a couple of weeks ago, Daddy (teacher of manhood things) decided to show Dayton how to pee in the yard like all good men must do one day. Dayton, brilliant little sponge that he is, picked up this skill immediately and now Mommy (the one that has to deal with Mr. budding manhood most) is stuck with a child who pees in the yard when the dogs go out and potty. I mean..it is a little funny to look and see your dog taking a poop and your toddler peeing beside the dog, but seriously... Dayton thinks that every time the dogs go out, he should shed his clothes and pee and then announce it to me. I've been trying to explain that little boys need to pee in the potty and he understands and says "yes mom" but how in the world do I get him to stop doing this? Of course Daddy is most supportive in all areas of shared parenthood, but this I feel he thinks is funny. I wonder if he'll feel the same way when Saige starts taking off her clothes and peeing in the yard? If you're reading Daddy, don't get me wrong...I'm laughing as I type this but could you please teach him a better used skill at this stage of the game...such as wiping his bottom? Saige had her 12month appointment yesterday and we've discovered that while she continues to grow UP, she has stopped growing OUT. She was 29.5 inches long and only 23 pounds. She hasn't gained any weight in 3 months...actually she has lost 1/2 pound. The dr. didn't seem worried as she is growing otherwise and she is still high up there on the charts. So I guess with her increased activity she has finally plateaued. Thank goodness because I can barely carry her as it is. She had 3 needles and has been running low fever ever since. She also had her finger pricked to check her blood count. Poor thing. Dayton didn't like her crying so much and kept telling the nurse to stop. It was kind of cute.
In the blink of an eye time passes & something changes. Life with kids somehow changes that much more quickly; especially when one is 6, one is 4 and the other is 3. Regardless of whether it is a day filled with sunshine or clouds & rain, wherever I may go, my four shadows will surely follow. Visit often, laugh always, cry if you need to & most of all, love deeply. We miss you all.

Happy 1st Birthday Saige!
Well, my little girl is 1 year old today...she was born with a smile and continues to smile. We will be helping her celebrate by having a little family party when Daddy gets home (hopefully early) on Friday. If you read this Daddy, don't forget to bring her home some balloons! (well, the balloons are actually for Dayton) Dayton helped pick out cake, icing and sprinkles today at the grocery, so he will help me make some SMASH birthday cupcakes on Friday. He held on tight to those sprinkles in the grocery and had fun opening them and leaving a trail throughout the store. How I didn't notice that I'm not sure...I guess I was too busy trying to keep all the strangers from touching Saige. Coochie coo so cute yah? We will wrap gifts on Friday because often that is the most fun for them at this age...pulling off all that cool paper. Dayton keeps asking when we can eat cake and keeps insisting that Saige needs to open her boxes. I think he is more excited by her birthday than she is! Of course mommy had to celebrate a "tiny" bit today, so she got dressed up and topped off with a bow. She chose her own breakfast..rice crispies and banana and at lunch today she had an ice cream cone with key lime ice cream. Well actually she held onto Mommy's cone and took several bites and then screamed when Mommy took it away. She's still got 6 teeth, is climbing like a monkey now and is up to taking 8-10 steps at a time. Thank you to all of our family and friends that called and or sent gifts/cards. We appreciate your love and miss you all. Look for birthday celebration pictures this weekend.
